Kaitlin Gallagher, PhD.
Dr. Kailin Gallagher is our new Assistant Professor of Marine Biology. She is originally from Boynton Beach, FL and attained her bachelor's degree in marine biology from FAU’s Harriet Wilkes Honors College. She had originally planned to be an elasmobranch biologist but changed her focus to parasitology after completing an internship in fish parasite ecology at Oregon State University. As a result, her Ph.D. research focused on the morphological and genomic evolution of shark tapeworms. Her current research program examines the evolution and ecology of a wide range of parasites, she works with everything from ticks to fish tapeworms to canine hookworms. Outside of work, she typically spends her free time running, reading, and hiking.
